Cactus Bee

I knew that when I saw the compelling photographs of cactus flowers taken by Paula Silverberg I had to create them in fabric. The common element of the bee delighted me but I was most intrigued by the juxtaposition of the desert flowers among the sharp spikes of the succulent cactus plants.  In my interpretation the flower is disproportionately large and is created in sheer fabric to capture the illusive quality of the desert blooms.
