Propagation

In 1995 I returned to Paris, France, at which time I experienced the great Masters through new eyes. It was while visiting the many museums and focusing on the Impressionist painters that I was transported into a world of possibilities. The geometry of Picasso’s images with their distinctive separation of color and shape, the patterns and decorative palette of Matisse, the brush strokes of Van Gogh, all sparked my imagination. Like propagation, I began to “ breed specimens from the parent stock,” interpreting these Masters of Impressionism in my own way.
